Applications

EBOL SL-TU is used as an additive to asphalt penetrating varnishes and diluted asphalts used for coating chippings in damp conditions.

Directions for Use

EBOL SL-TU is used in processes of coating aggregate with bitumen and for preparation of asphalt penetrating varnishes. The agent enhances adhesiveness of diluted asphalts used for coated acidic chippings. Solutions in bitumen withstand long-term heating up to 150 °°C without alteration of their activity.

1. Coating crushed aggregate

2.1 Agent application to hot asphalt

During processes of manufacturing (refinery, asphalt additivation), EBOL SL-TU is added in a dosage of 0.5 % directly to the melted bitumen, preferably by using a dosing pump. EBOL SL-TU is heated to temperature around 60 °C. Recommended viscosity of the hot asphalt is c. 200 mPa.s. Due to high temperature of the asphalt (160 to 180 °C), it is recommended to add EBOL SL-TU immediately before intended coating. Corresponding storage tank can be stirred well by utilising a circulating pump.Storing asphalt mixed with EBOL SL-TU additive at high temperatures is not recommended. To improve bitumen quality, a dose of 0.5 to 0.7 % of EBOL SL-TU is added to bitumen storage tanks in facilities producing crushed aggregate. Homogenization of these tanks should be preferably done by utilising a circulating pump. During application laboratory tests carried out in compliance with the ČSN 73 6161 (736161) norm, granodiorite was used as the testing aggregate. This material, however, has very poor adhesion ability. Diabase and basalt have better properties.

2.2 Agent application to diluted asphalts

EBOL SL-TU is added to diluted asphalts (asphalt coatings) in a dosage ranging between 0.5 to 1 %. During manufacturing process, EBOL SL-TU heated to temperature in range from 50 to 60 °C is applied at asphalt temperature around 50 °C. For homogenization of the diluted asphalts, a propeller mixer should be used. It is also possible to use a static mixer.

Packaging & Storage

EBOL SL-TU is delivered in 200 l iron barrels. Alternatively, it can be delivered in different containers that were discussed and agreed on in advance. Store it in a sealed container in places protected from direct climatic influences. Recommended storage temperature is between +5 to +25 °C. Must not be stored in the sun or near heat sources. Storing at temperatures below 0 °C does not affect product's application properties. In such cases, it is strongly recommended to temper the agent at 25 °C followed by homogenization before its use.

Transport

EBOL SL-TU is transported by covered vehicles. It is not subject to ADR/RID Regulations.

Warranty

Provided the product is transported and stored in accordance with the above written conditions, its warranty is 6 months from the date it was delivered from a warehouse.
